Also today, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is launching a new breast cancer site, www.hhs.gov/breastcancer, which helps patients understand their disease and its treatment, and gives them tools to help deal with the challenges that the disease creates in their lives.
The breast cancer site is the product of a cross-agency initiative at HHS to compile the department's wealth of information on breast cancer into a single location that is easy for consumers to use. The site is aimed at patients, families, caregivers and survivors - and their numbers are huge. More than 250,000 new cases of breast cancer are diagnosed each year, making breast cancer the second-most diagnosed cancer among women.
