Fire Fighter I is a seasonal, temporary classification used by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CDF). Fire Fighter I hiring usually occurs each April, May, or June, depending upon the upcoming fire season conditions.
The minimum qualification to participate in the Fire Fighter I examination is that you must be 18 years of age at the time of appointment to a Firefighter I position.
You must file a Fire Fighter I application (1.1MB PDF) at each CDF Unit in which you wish to be considered for appointment. For a listing of CDF Units, please refer to "CDF Contacts".
The filing period for the 2007 fire season (34K PDF) is the first business day of November 2006 through the last business day of January 2007.
Applications will not be accepted at Sacramento Headquarters, Region Offices, or Conservation Camps. |
