Application for the Commission’s CSET Subject Matter Advisory Panel for HMONG, CANTONESE, ARMENIAN, KHMER, ARABIC, and FARSI

The California Commission on Teacher Credentialing is currently seeking California educators and professionals who have experience and expertise in speaking, reading, and writing the following languages other than English (LOTE): Hmong, Cantonese, Armenian, Khmer, Arabic and Farsi.  Passage of a CSET LOTE examination is one route to meeting the subject matter requirements for California candidates seeking a Single Subject Teaching Credential in Hmong, Cantonese, Armenian, Khmer, Arabic or Farsi.

The Commission is seeking applications from individuals who have academic knowledge of and fluency in any one of the six languages identified above, as well as a deep familiarity with the culture and cultural traditions of that language community.  The panel will serve under the direction of the Commission, and panel meetings will be facilitated by a Commission Consultant.  During the CSET LOTE Subject Matter Advisory Panel meetings, members will receive a comprehensive orientation so they may effectively understand and carry out the required activities.  The Commission will only consider applications from the most qualified individuals to serve as members of the panel.
