OSHA Offers Free Spanish Language Construction Safety Course Oct. 29 in Riverhead, N.Y.
The U.S. Labor Department's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the Long Island Power Authority, AGMAUSA and North Fork Spanish Apostolate will present a free, course in Spanish on construction safety and health on Sunday, Oct. 29. The course will run from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., at St. John the Evangelist Church (Iglesia San Juan El Evangelista), Roanoke Ave. and Fifth St. in Riverhead, N.Y.

The women’s-to-men’s earnings ratio among 16- to 24-year women, for example, rose from 79 percent in 1979 to 93 percent in 2005. The ratio for 25- to 34-year-olds rose from 67 percent in 1979 to 89 percent 26 years later.

OSHA Cites Contractor for Fatalities in Boston Scaffold Collapse
The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has cited Bostonian Masonry for eight alleged violations of safety standards in connection with three fatalities on April 3 during a scaffold collapse at 150 Boylston St. in Boston. The Walpole, Mass., masonry contractor faces $119,000 in proposed fines.
