Cal/OSHA issues nearly $50,000 in citations to Mammoth Mountain Ski Area
Mammoth Lakes, CA—The California Department of Industrial Relations’ Division of Occupational Safety and Health (Cal/OSHA), today issued citations to Mammoth Mountain Ski Area totaling $49,865 following an investigation into the April 6, 2006 accident resulting in the death of three ski patrol employees.

Denny’s Restaurant Sued by EEOC for Disability Bias Against Class of Workers Nationwide
The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) announced today that it filed a federal discrimination lawsuit under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) against Denny’s, Inc., which operates more than 500 corporate-owned restaurants in 30 states, on behalf of disabled employees nationwide who were not provided reasonable accommodation and were fired after being denied medical leave needed in connection with their disabilities.

Phony Contractors Stung in Los Angeles County Undercover Operation
A house in Montrose turned out to have a revolving door of phony contractors Wednesday as the Contractors State License Board's (CSLB) Statewide Investigative Fraud Team (SWIFT) conducted an undercover sting operation. A total of 19 people were arrested.

The California Department of Consumer Affairs/Bureau of Automotive Repair (DCA/BAR) is taking disciplinary action that may result in the suspension or revocation of the Automotive Repair Dealer registrations of 76 Southern California EZ Lube auto repair shops. This marks the largest Bureau investigation in recent history against an independently-owned automotive repair corporation.

FTC Puts a Permanent Halt to Illegal Spamming Operations
The Federal Trade Commission has brought a permanent halt to four illegal spamming operations – including one that offered the opportunity to “date lonely wives” and two that hijacked the computers of unwitting third parties and used them to pelt consumers with graphic sexually explicit e-mail. The FTC charged the operators with sending spam that violated provisions of the CAN-SPAM Act, and has halted the illegal spamming
