U.S. Embassy Consular Section Re-opens For Limited Visa Services

August 23, 2006

The U.S. Embassy offers the following information about important temporary changes to its immigrant and nonimmigrant visa services.


Beginning Thursday, August 24 the Consular Section will resume Immigrant Visa processing. Lebanese citizens who were previously scheduled for an immigrant visa interview will be re-scheduled immediately.


Also beginning Monday, August 28 the Consular Section will resume limited Nonimmigrant Visa processing. Applicants for F, H, J, L, M, O, P nonimmigrant visas may pay the $100 application fee at any Crédit Libanais Bank branch and receive an appointment. Processing for all other visitor visa categories remains suspended until further notice. Visitor visa applicants who paid the $100 application fee prior to August 1 will be re-scheduled when normal nonimmigrant visa operations resume. Travelers with emergent situations may contact us at BeirutNIV@state.gov.


For information and inquiries regarding nonimmigrant visas, the public is encouraged to use the following:


• Visit the embassy website’s visa page. The English website can be found at http://lebanon.usembassy.gov . The Arabic website can be found at http://lebanon.usembassy.gov/lebanon-ar


 • Email the Nonimmigrant Visa Unit at BeirutNIV@state.gov . Requests for changes to visa appointments can be made at this email address, as well as any other inquiries.


 • Fax queries and requests to change nonimmigrant visa appointments to 04-544-037.


 • Public telephone inquiries about nonimmigrant visas are accepted only on Thursdays from 2-4 p.m.

• Email the Immigrant Visa Unit at BeirutIV@state.gov .


• Fax queries to 04-544-298.


•Public telephone inquiries about immigrant visas are accepted only on Wednesdays from 2-4 p.m.
