WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. General Services Administration has awarded a $120 million contract task order that will enable the U.S. Department of Agriculture to improve its national crop insurance program.

This performance-based task order under GSA’s Millennia information technology contract was awarded to the Science Applications International Corporation by GSA’s Federal Systems Integration and Management Center (FEDSIM) for IT support services for USDA’s Risk Management Agency.  It will help this agency maintain their legacy systems, re-engineer their current IT environment, and also operate and maintain their hardware/software infrastructure.  These services will help the crop insurance program smoothly transform into a broad-based “safety net” for producers---assuring that American agriculture remains solid, solvent, and globally competitive in the 21st Century.

This performance-based task order will be managed through service level agreements and performance metrics.  Using industry best practices, GSA specified standards and requirements that ensure the contractor develops, operates, and maintains the USDA RMA’s new infrastructure throughout the life of the task order.  The contractor will provide support at the following USDA locations:  Washington, DC, and Kansas City, MO, as well as at RMA’s 10 regional offices, five compliance offices, Tarleton University, and USDA’s Center for Agriculture Excellence.  The contractor will also support government employees and contractor staff who telework either full- or part-time.  Permanent, on-site support will be provided in Washington and Kansas City and will be supplied to field offices as requested.

GSA Administrator Lurita Doan stated, “FEDSIM is delighted to be able to work with USDA to improve its national crop insurance program and save money for the American taxpayer.  With this new Millennia contract task order, GSA helps USDA in its mission to promote, support, and regulate sound risk management solutions to preserve and strengthen the economic stability of America’s farmers.

FEDSIM issued Task Order GST0006AJM077 under Contract GS00T99ALD0210. The total amount of the award is $120,830,169.00.
