State Seeks Senior Engineer of California Board for Professional Engineers And Land Surveyors

***MUST POSSES A CURRENT MECHANICAL OR ELECTRICAL ENGINEER LICENSE*** WILL ALSO CONSIDER ASSOCIATE MECHANICAL ENGINEER OR ASSOCIATE ELECTRICAL ENGINEER CLASSIFICATION.
Under the general direction of the Executive Officer (EO) and the Assistant Executive Officer (AEO) the Senior Staff Mechanical or Electrical Engineer reviews applications for various examinations to determine the qualifications for licensure. Acts as the Manager of the Exam Administration Unit, which includes the coordination, scheduling and administration of examinations for licensure throughout the State. Reviews and analyzes exam population data to determine costs relating to exam administration. Serves as staff liaison to Technical Advisory Committees and Board Special Committees. Compiles and maintains accurate program and committee cost records and statistics related to the program; provides information and assistance to public concerning registration law and registration requirements. Assists public and applicants in the interpretation of the Professional Engineers Act and/or the Land Surveyors Act. Assists Enforcement Unit with technical problems;Acts as the Board’s Local Area Network Administrator; responsible for the operation and maintenance of a computer network . Acts as the Information Technology (IT) liaison between the Board and the Department. Responsible for the design, purchase and implementation of computer hardware and software. Develops annual IT budgets and support contracts for the Board. Makes special studies and prepares reports pertaining to professional engineering. Represents the Board at public meetings and outreach, hearings, and forums as assigned. Assists other programs as needed.
WHO MAY APPLY: Eligible candidates who are current state employees with status in the above classification or lateral transfers from an equivalent class, former state employees who can reinstate into this class or persons who are reachable on a current employment list for this classification. Candidates whose eligibility is based on an employment list must submit a copy of their examination results, indicating their test score. All interested applicants must submit a standard State Application Form STD 678 (with original signature), and must clearly indicate the basis of their eligibility in line item number 12 (explanation) of the STD 678. Appointment is subject to SROA and State surplus policies. Surplus candidates must submit copy of surplus status letter. Only the most qualified candidates will be interviewed.
