Xbox 360 Invites the World to Create Original Games
In a landmark announcement during the keynote address at the annual Game Developers Conference (GDC), Microsoft Corp. promised to soon allow Xbox LIVE members to play, rate and share community-created games. As the first in the industry to pioneer high-speed online gaming and high-definition games, Xbox 360 once again broke new ground by introducing a new, open distribution service for games created by the community and soon playable by its 10 million Xbox LIVE members. Community-created games on Xbox LIVE will quickly double the size of the Xbox 360 game library. By the end of 2008, Xbox 360 owners will have access to more than 1,000 games, making it the largest, most creatively diverse library across all next-generation platforms.

At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2007 in Las Vegas, Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) today announced that more than one million units of its recently launched PLAYSTATION3 (PS3) computer entertainment system have shipped in North America to retailers. The company successfully achieved this milestone by the end of the 2006 calendar year, just six weeks after the product was introduced on November 17, 2006.

Xbox 360 Games: Topping the Charts
Xbox 360 is setting the bar for high definition gaming. Both “Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter” (Ubisoft) and “Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion” (Bethesda) exploded software sales in March. Bethesda announced “Oblivion” shipped more than 1.7 million copies on the Xbox 360 and Windows platforms between its launch on March 20 and April 7, making it one of the fastest-selling RPGs ever. “Oblivion” has been receiving accolades from nearly every game reviewer, and has been hailed by some as “one of the best RPGs ever made.” In Europe, “Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter” topped the all-formats sales charts the week it released – replaced only by “Oblivion” two weeks later.

XBOX New Movie Showcase Features Free Downloadable Content for Gamers - Campaign Launches with “Mission: Impossible III” and “Nacho Libre

HOLLYWOOD, CA, April 11, 2006…… Paramount Pictures and Xbox have pioneered the first-ever Xbox Movie Showcase cross-platform marketing program between a movie studio and Microsoft’s Xbox Live. Launching tomorrow (April 12, 2006), the Xbox Movie Showcase will feature free, high-definition, downloadable content from two of the most highly anticipated films of the summer: the action-thriller “Mission: Impossible III,” starring Tom Cruise and directed by J.J. Abrams (the creator of “Lost” and “Alias”), hitting theaters May 5, and “Nacho Libre,” a comedy starring Jack Black and directed by Jared Hess, the director of “Napoleon Dynamite,” in theaters June 16.

From April to June, the competition promises pulse-pounding, head-to-head contests between the best racers across the globe.
