PASADENA, Calif. -- The registration period closes today, Jan. 9, for those who took a direct hit from Southern California wildfires. The deadline to apply for federal and state disaster assistance is 6 p.m. for telephone registrations or midnight online.
Before 6 p.m. today homeowners, renters and business owners may call 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or TTY 1-800-462-7585 to register property losses from wildfires. Web signup is also available at

until midnight tonight.
"If you had losses from wildfires you need to sign up today," said Mike Hall, head of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) wildfire recovery team. "Put your name on the list, or you might miss out on federal and state recovery money."
Individual assistance is available to residents of Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, Santa Barbara and Ventura counties for eligible losses and damages caused by wildfires.
Today is also the last day to apply for a low-interest disaster loan from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) for property damage not covered by insurance. The SBA loan program is the primary form of disaster assistance for home and business owners and renters. Completion of the SBA loan application is required for some forms of FEMA aid.
