FEMA Prepared To Assist In Wake Of Tornadoes In Arkansas

DENTON, TEXAS -- In the wake of the tornadoes that struck the State of Arkansas today, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is working closely with State officials to help those who suffered damages.
- Officials at FEMA Region 6 in Denton, Texas are in contact with the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management to determine what the needs are.
- A FEMA Liaison Officer is working at the Arkansas Emergency Operations Center.
- The Regional Response Coordination Center in Denton has been activated in order to closely monitor the situation.
- Working with the State of Arkansas, preparations are being made to conduct preliminary damage assessments as quickly as possible.
FEMA coordinates the federal governments role in preparing for, preventing, mitigating the effects of, responding to, and recovering from all domestic disasters, whether natural or man-made, including acts of terror.
