Entertainment Superstar Frankie Avalon to Speak at BRAVO

Event Set for February 13th

 

Frankie Avalon, an American superstar actor and singer whose exciting career spans five decades, will deliver the keynote address at the City of Bellflower's 14th Annual BRAVO Awards.
    
The event is set for Wednesday, February 13th, at noon in the Bristol Auditorium at Bellflower City Hall (located at 16600 Civic Center Drive). The ceremony is free and open to the public. Several exceptional individuals will be recognized at the BRAVO Awards for acts of valor, heroism and outstanding service in support of public safety in Bellflower. In addition, two high school students will receive $500 scholarships for their winning essays about the importance of public safety and its role in the community.
    
Frankie Avalon began his legendary musical career in Philadelphia, Pa., at the young age of 12. He went on to become a huge teen idol and household name in the 1950's and 60's, as his music skyrocketed up the charts with his songs "Venus" and "Why," which both rose to number one on Billboard Magazine's Hot 100 list.
    
Avalon had 31 charted Billboard U.S. singles during his career with such hits as  "Cupid," "Dede Dinah," "A Perfect Love," "I'll Wait for You," "Swinging On A Rainbow" and the ever-popular "Beauty School Dropout" from the mega hit movie "Grease."
    
Besides singing, Avalon is also well known for starring in beach-themed movies with his friend Annette Funicello. The duo paired up in such hits as "Beach Blanket Bingo," "Beach Party" and "Pajama Party." Avalon has starred in over 30 classic movies such as "The Alamo," "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea," "The Haunted House of Horror," "Troop Beverly Hills” and "Casino.”
