Free CEU: Prevention of Varicella: Recommendations of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP)
This report revises, updates, and replaces the 1996 and 1999 ACIP statements of CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices for prevention of varicella in the United States. The goal of this report is to improve the health status of the U.S. population by providing recommendations on the use of varicella vaccines for prevention of varicella disease. Upon completion of this educational activity, the reader should be able to 1) describe the epidemiology of varicella in the United States, 2) identify recommendations for varicella vaccination in the United States, and 3) describe the characteristics of the currently licensed varicella vaccines.

CDC is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for nonphysicians. CDC designates this educational activity for a maximum of 2.25 hours in category 1 credit towards the AMA Physician's Recognition Award. Each nonphysician should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational activity.

The CDC has been reviewed and approved as an Authorized Provider by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) 1620 I Street, NW, Suite 615, Washington, DC 2006.
