Purpose
This study is a randomized controlled clinical trial comparing family therapy to individual supportive therapy for emerging, clinically significant symptoms of anorexia nervosa in children and adolescents.

Eligibility
Ages Eligible for Study: 10 Years - 17 Years, Genders Eligible for Study: Both
Criteria
Inclusion Criteria:

Male or female age 10-17, living with family or guardian, medically stable for outpatient treatment, meeting 2-3 criteria for anorexia nervosa, stable dose of psychotropic medication (if applicable).
Exclusion Criteria:
-
History of full-criteria anorexia nervosa, current psychotic illness, current alcohol/drug dependence, medical or physical conditions known to influence eating/weight/menstrual status, previous participation in study treatment, current psychological treatment patient is not willing to relinquish, unwillingness to participate in ongoing medical management
