E2008 Homeland Security Science & Technology Stakeholders Conference West
Free Attendance for Uniformed First Responders
The California Office of Homeland Security is pleased to announce the 2008 Homeland Security Science & Technology Conference West, "Putting First Responders First," presented by the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA), is providing free admission to all uniformed and credentialed first responders. The conference is hosted by the State of California Governor's Office of Homeland Security with key participation by the US Department of Homeland Security Science & Technology Directorate on January 14-17, 2008 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
The conference features speakers and presenters that will focus on science and technology research that supports the efforts of state and local governments and first responders in homeland security. The conference is anticipated to include 1,500-2,000 attendees from local, state, federal and international governments, first responders, academia, and the private sector. Speakers invited include U.S. Department of Homeland Security Undersecretary Jay Cohen, California Office of Homeland Security Director Matthew Bettenhausen, Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, state and local government representatives, representatives from California's first responder community, and homeland security experts from Israel, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Singapore, the European Union and Sweden.
The conference will provide technical training specifically for First Responders and other authorized emergency response personnel during the Pre-Conference Training Session on Monday, January 14, and also on Thursday, January 17.
To obtain free admission to the conference, please present official identification at onsite registration and be in uniform at the event.
